Female Student Travel Award: Details and How to Apply

Target Group:

  • This prestigious award is open to female Bachelor and Master’s students with excellent academic performance from any field of study that connects to the research areas of the collaborative research centre CROSSING, the LOEWE centre emergenCITY, the cluster project The Third Wave of AI (3AI), or the Zuse School ELIZA. Based on the application details for this specific award call, eligibility is currently focused on students at TU Darmstadt. Applicants should refer to the websites of the participating research centres for details on any other eligible universities.

Aim:

  • The primary aim of the Female Student Travel Award is to recognise exceptional aptitude of female students in fields relevant to the respective project/centre/school and to provide them with opportunities to attend leading events focused on connecting female researchers in computer science and engineering. This helps to foster connections, provide valuable insights, and shape the academic and professional futures of talented female students.

Arrangements:

  • Successful applicants will have the opportunity to freely choose one conference from a list of prestigious events focused on women in technology:
    • Informatica Feminale and Ingenieurinnen-Sommeruni
    • ditact Summer Studies
    • Ada Lovelace Festival
    • Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing
    • Women Engineers (WE) Conference
  • Winners will also be invited to attend the Ruzena Bajcsy Lecture and award ceremony in Darmstadt, providing a further opportunity to network with fellow awardees.

Funding:

  • The award covers your travel expenses to the chosen conference, including train or plane tickets, accommodation, and entrance fees, in accordance with the travel expense guidelines of TU Darmstadt.

Admission Process:

  • We invite applications from female Bachelor and Master’s students who demonstrate excellent academic performance and whose studies relate to the research of 3AI, CROSSING, emergenCITY, or the Zuse School ELIZA. The selection process will consider your letter of motivation, CV, study performance summary, and a description of your connection to or interest in the relevant research fields. While you can optionally indicate your preferred conference, this will not influence the selection of winners.
