Marcel Ackermann serves as Scientific Coordinator for the ELIZA project, the Konrad Zuse School of Excellence in Learning and Intelligent Systems at TU Darmstadt. In this role, he coordinates the scientific activities across ELIZA’s network of seven German ELLIS units (Berlin, Darmstadt, Freiburg, Heidelberg, München, Saarbrücken, Tübingen).
Marcel facilitates the connection between ELIZA’s academic fellows ensuring seamless collaboration across the distributed network of research excellence in machine learning-driven AI.
His coordination enables ELIZA to leverage ELLIS’s international network of 36 units and over 300 fellows, positioning German AI research within Europe’s most prestigious machine learning community.
Daniela currently works at the Research Field Information and Intelligence and the Collaborative Research Center CROSSING at TU Darmstadt, where she manages science communications. She supports researchers in communicating their work clearly and strategically, from identifying relevant topics to coordinating press outreach, websites, and social media. She translates complex research into accessible formats, bridging science and society through consistent messaging.
Filippo Calderaro serves as Project Manager for the ELIZA project at TU Darmstadt, bringing a distinctive blend of cognitive neuroscience expertise and project management experience to advance AI research and education initiatives.
Filippo holds a Master of Science in Cognitive Science from Università degli Studi di Milano, where he graduated with a focus on decision-making processes and cognitive science. His interdisciplinary foundation includes a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, providing him with critical analytical skills essential for navigating complex AI and learning systems challenges.
As Project Manager, Filippo leads cross-functional teams. His background in cognitive neuroscience enables him to bridge the gap between theoretical AI research and practical implementation, while his proven track record in managing complex projects ensures efficient execution of ELIZA’s goals.
