Jan Buchmann, MSc

I am a PhD student under Prof. Dr. Iryna Gurevych in the Ubiquitous Knowledge Processing (UKP) Lab at TU Darmstadt. With my research, I want to advance NLP technologies that assist humans in working with long documents. I mainly focus on two research directions: The first is the use of document structure, an important signal for humans, but often ignored in NLP. The second is improving LLMs in their ability to attribute their claims to the sources in long documents, making them more verifiable. This has led my most important publication to date, which I presented at the EMNLP 2024 main conference [1].
